When Fall starts?

The start of a Fall season depends on the geographical area: different countries have different viewpoints of Fall. In North America, some people think the four seasons should divide the year by three equal months each, so Fall starts on September 1, while some other people think the Fall starts after Labour Day when the schools start on September 2.

However, farmers and gardeners traditionally think that the autumnal equinox brings the fall season to the Northern Hemisphere. For example according to Farmer's Almanac, Fall started on September 22 at 10:29 P.M. EDT in 2014. The start of Fall means the timing is important for gardeners. In early Fall, they will do the maintenance to the lawn - over-seeding, top-dressing, fertilizing, etc.. In the middle of Fall, they may plant bulbous flowers such as tulips and daffodils to their gardens. In late Fall, they will prune the perennials and trees.
